This is an off-schedule blog post, but I just finished my sketch from this morning and I wanted to share it with you.
This chica is calm, cool, and has her sh*t together. Just like the bird. Don't you feel that they have a connection?? Or are they two enemies about to square off for battle?
I think they are enemies - they look way too calm for their minds to be still. they are plotting the big battle ;-)
ReplyDeleteI may agree. When I stepped back to look at them, I saw them in a different light. They look like they each have something up their sleeve... or wing.. or whatever
ReplyDeleteI agree, I think they're waiting for the opportune moment to pounce. Reminds of they way my kitties look before they attack.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting what comes out in your art... this was only a sketchbook entry, but I think there is something there about the conflict present in the drawing...
ReplyDeleteI’m not sure I see a conflict, but I feel she knows something about the bird that he wouldn’t want know. She can see into his soul….. Whatever is there and whatever their connection it is a beautiful sketch (and also a reminder to me that there is not yet anything in my sketch book….).
ReplyDeleteI think it looks like she knows more than the bird though, like she knows he is angry and upset and is waiting for him to take his move so she can one up him. I wonder why I think the bird is a boy?
ReplyDeleteYour sketch is really beautiful!
Beautiful journal spread! Her features are so realistic. Hmm, I agree ~~ she has something "up her sleeve" and this birdie knows that something is up. Great expression of emotions within these souls, Kelly.
ReplyDeleteI almost feel that the bird is up to something like hey watch me! He might just take off on his own. I love this sketch. Feel free to link them up in my Autumn/Halloween link up on my side bar, would love to have you there! Have a wonderful week~Theresa
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Kelly. There is definitely a lot going on with those expressions--fun to look at and wonder about. Love the woman's hair--so creative.
ReplyDeleteHope all is well in your world.
You guys are great - I love hearing your thoughts on this sketch!! I love that about art, how one piece can mean different things to different people. So cool! I had fun drawing these two :)
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful that you sketch! This woman is master and commander of the bird (that is my view anyway). I see it in her eyes. Have a good day!
ReplyDeleteTo me, they seem to be pretty skeptical of each other. They definitely do NOT trust each other.
ReplyDeleteI love your sketchbook, it's so interesting!
I think they are kindred spirits, both with similiar battles to fight, but in different worlds.
ReplyDeleteShe seems calm and like she does know something that is making her peaceful even in the presence of the guy who's a little angry. She's not afraid and she is beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteSo cool! Everybody has a slightly different take on this sketch. It's been so much fun hearing the different ideas... maybe I'll start doing more stuff like this. You all have such insight!
ReplyDeleteXOXO,
Kelly
Wonderful pages Kelly! I love the story that you have written to go along with it too!
ReplyDeleteGreat page! I love the calm look about her.
